Fotona TwinLight

Advanced Laser Technology for Skin Rejuvenation

Fotona TwinLight is a cutting-edge laser treatment protocol designed to achieve comprehensive skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing results. Utilising the unique power of the Fotona SP Dynamis system, this non-ablative procedure combines two distinct laser wavelengths - Nd:YAG and Er:YAG - to treat skin imperfections from the deepest layers right up to the surface.Understanding the TwinLight Approach.

Journey

A 3-Step Procedure

The TwinLight protocol is not a single laser pass but a highly controlled, three-stage process that systematically targets different components of the skin to achieve maximum, long-lasting improvements. It is suitable for treating the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.

The 3-step procedure includes:

Step one

Conditioning

An Nd:YAG beam is passed over the surface. This provides a short stimulus to the skin, the second pass penetrates the tissue, causing deep FRAC3® heating, thereby conditioning the skin for an effective fractional treatment therapy.

Step two

Fractional therapy

Old, worn-out skin is ablated away by a fractional Er:YAG laser. The precise micro-ablated channels will be replaced with new, tighter and healthy tissue as new skin forms.

Step 3

Peeling

The skin is ablated with a light, full Er:YAG beam, which finishes the treatment and removes superficial imperfections.

Who is TwinLight Rejuvenation Good For?

The TwinLight treatment is highly effective for individuals seeking significant yet gradual improvement in their skin quality without the extended downtime associated with fully ablative procedures. It is particularly suitable for addressing:

Fine lines and wrinkles

Mild to moderate skin laxity (sagging)

Uneven skin tone and texture

Sun damage and photo-ageing

Age spots and brown pigmentations

Enlarged pores

Scars (e.g. mild acne scars)

Dull, tired-looking skin

It is an excellent option for those who want a comprehensive anti-ageing solution that works on both the deep dermal structure and the superficial skin surface.

Potential Risks and Complications

While the Fotona TwinLight protocol is considered safe and minimally invasive, as with any aesthetic procedure, there are potential risks and side effects that should be discussed with a qualified practitioner.

Common Side Effects (Usually Temporary)
  • Erythema (Redness): The treated area will appear pink or red, similar to a sunburn. This typically subsides within a few hours to a couple of days.
  • Oedema (Swelling): Mild swelling is common, especially around sensitive areas like the eyes. This usually resolves within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Flaking or Peeling: Due to the superficial peel component, the skin may feel rough and start to lightly flake or peel over the following week as the damaged surface layers shed.
  • Transient Pigment Changes: In some cases, the skin may temporarily become slightly lighter (hypopigmentation) or darker (hyperpigmentation) in the treated areas. This is more common in individuals with darker skin tones, but usually resolves over time.
Less Common or Rare Complications
  • Prolonged Erythema: Redness that persists for longer than expected.
  • Infection: Although rare, there is a minimal risk of bacterial, fungal, or viral infection. Strict post-treatment care minimises this risk.
  • Scarring: Extremely rare with non-ablative or lightly ablative protocols like TwinLight, but a theoretical risk.
  • Persistent Pigment Changes: In very rare instances, changes to skin colour may be permanent.
